With the return of the dragons, and the rise of Dragon Hunters as a result, the need for Dragon Riders has never been greater. Hiccup and the rest of the original Dragon Riders have started training the next generation to fulfill their mission: ensure the safety of the dragons. A whole new set of Dragon Riders will be in charge of the safety of the archipelago. They will explore further and discover even more new dragons while protecting their home.
Boulder Class dragons are tough dragons and are associated with the earth. They can eat rocks, and although they have small wings relative to their body size, they are able to fly as fast and as high as most other dragons can.

The Catastrophic Quaken can smash into the ground and create huge shockwaves that can knock dragons out air. As a Boulder Class dragon, the Catastrophic Quaken is literally what it eats — as it enjoys the consumption of rocks. This dietary preference is the cause for its tendency to reside in rocky terrain where it can roam afoot and pick up sustenance as it travels. Strong and hulking, this dragon relies on its size as the ultimate defense mechanism. When threatened, its immediate reaction is to enter protective mode and roll into a ball like a giant armadillo. Once secured into this position, it quickly takes the offense, smashing into the ground to create huge shockwaves they will knock dragons down whether they are on land or airborne. A lack of human interaction has made these dragons cautionary over time, but since Hiccup and the Dragon Riders have introduced them to humans they are slowly becoming less stony and more caring. Physical Features

Physical Description
Egg
A Catastrophic Quaken's egg is brown and whitish tan, the same colors as an adult Catastrophic Quaken. It also has several spikes on its shell similar to an adult's. There also seems to be yellow oozing smoke coming out of it. Hatchling to Adult
As one of the biggest dragons to appear in the series, the Catastrophic Quaken has a somewhat stubby and short body with rather small wings. This dragon also has dark brown, wrinkly skin, akin to that of the Gronckle and the Hotburple. It is covered with spikes all over. The Catastrophic Quaken's head, body, and tail are covered in short spikes. Its lower jaw can split in two, with a tongue on each jaw. They are larger than other dragons in the Boulder class, including the Gronckle, but smaller than a full grown Screaming Death. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Quakens have a dark purple hide with longer spikes concentrated around their tail, neck, and snout.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Firepower Catastrophic Quakens, like most Boulder Class dragons, eat rocks. Their love for these geological materials derive from their habitat in rocky terrains where they roam afoot and pick up sustenance while traveling. They also can produce a magma slobber from their jaws. When fully unhinged, their trifold jaws can ingest a plethora of rocks, which it subsequently spews out in the form of a molten lava stream.
Curling into a Boulder The Catastrophic Quaken can curl up into a boulder and roll into either its prey or its predators in a form of attack or defense. It can also smash into the ground with powerful strength and create a shockwave strong enough to knock both dragons and humans off their feet, or out of the sky.
Strength and Jaw Strength Catastrophic Quakens are very strong, considering their size and armor. It was shown to easily break a boulder with its tail, and cause rock slides. They are the only dragons able to break a marble block. Being a Boulder Class dragon, this dragon's jaw strength is more powerful than the Gronckle's.
Endurance and Stamina Being a Boulder Class dragon, Catastrophic Quakens are tougher than Gronckles, as they are able to withstand many attacks, especially when curled up. Even a Night Fury's plasma blast couldn't stun or harm it when rolling. Because of its heavy weight it's able to travel in high speed to chase its enemies out of its territory.
Speed and Agility These dragons can move faster than the Gronckles, and they can travel in greater speed when they curl like boulders. They are also able to walk on their hind legs.
Weaknesses
Due to their massive size, Catastrophic Quakens can get easily trapped in tight spaces.
Behavior & Training
Personality
This dragon is described to be the 'bully of the dragon world'. It is extremely lonely and cautious towards humans due to a lack of interaction with them. Like the Razorwhip, it has very limited contact with humans and other dragons, making them distrusting and destructive. However, you can earn its loyalty simply by slowly introducing it to humans and other dragons. Once you do that, it becomes quite an agreeable animal. While they can be rather hostile, this dragon appears to be rather friendly and loyal at times. Catastrophic Quakens have formed a symbiotic relationship with Prickleboggles, with the Catastrophic Quaken protecting the Prickleboggle from harm, and the Prickleboggle healing the Quaken if it is injured during a fight. The Catastrophic Quaken have also a symbiotic relationship with the Gronckles. These dragons surround their nests with large boulders in order to protect them from other dragons.
Training
Due to their reclusive behavior, Quakens are hard to train. However, once a trainer asserts a certain level of trust with the dragon, as well as befriends them, Quakens are easy to train and will not hesitate to help the trainer too. In addition, Quakens can be easily trained in the face of an authority. This can be shown when a Dragon Hunter and Fishlegs could command, or rather, instruct, two Quakens with a giant hammer. This higher authority, however, must be based on mutual respect and trust, instead of a strict demanding force.

Short Description Crimson Goregutters are massive in size and carry an unbelievable amount of strength, helping them destroy anything in its path when feeling opposed. Mighty as they are, these creatures are loyal to their Alpha and caring to those who they consider their friends. Though they may not be one of the fastest dragons around, don't be fooled as their size is their gift, and you can spot a Crimson Goregutter from miles away! These unique dragons are born with enormous antlers used as weaponry in battle and a shocking axe-like tail; enemies don't stand a chance against them! They have incredible ear-spitting calls, which they use to communicate with others from a far way distance. These roaring calls coming in handy whenever reinforcements are needed. Physical Features
Metallic, moose-like antlers
Axe-shaped tail
Rock-shaped spines
Colors
Crimson with purple details and light underside
Physical Description
Egg
Crimson Goregutter eggs are oval-shaped with a pronounced scale pattern on them. They have a dark grey base, with the scales having various colors, including yellow, orange, red, pink, purple and turquoise.
Hatchling to Adult
Crimson Goregutters are massive dragons with a wingspan comparable to that of a Typhoomerang and are primarily crimson in color with purple details. They have four long and stubby legs, with their forelimbs being longer than their hindlimbs. The Goregutters' most defining features are the massive moose-like antlers that adorn their short-snouted heads. These antlers are large and powerful enough to be used as formidable weapons. The tip of their tails is shaped like a battle axe that can be used for defensive and offensive purposes.
Titan Wing
The antlers, plates, and spikes of Titan Wing Crimson Goregutters are larger and sharper than those of their Broad Wing counterparts. Their tail bludgeons have grown significantly and they also have several large holes on the far edges of their antlers.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Firepower Crimson Goregutters are able to launch molten lava from their mouths, similar to other Boulder Class dragons such as Gronckles and Hotburples. They are also able to spew their lava onto their antlers before charging onto their intended targets.
Ear-splitting Call Crimson Goregutters are able to produce an ear-splitting sound to communicate within a distance.
Strength and Combat Due to their huge size, Crimson Goregutters possess an immense level of strength. A single Goregutter can easily knock down the door of a metal cage with its feet, swat humans with its tail, smash a tower of rocks, and destroy the masts of a ship by ramming it with its antlers while flying without any signs of slowing down.
Axe-shaped Tail The tip of a Crimson Goregutter's tail is shaped like a crude axe, which the dragon can use both in attack and defense. The tail is powerful enough to knock out humans instantly and to destroy ships masts and beams of wood. The Goregutter exhibits fair levels of control over the tail, but it is neither prehensile or telescopic.
Weaknesses
Unknown
Behavior & Training
Personality Crimson Goregutters are generally peaceful dragons that prefer to be left alone. Despite their docile nature, they can be aggressive and incredibly dangerous when provoked. They are also very protective to those that they care about. Training Training a Crimson Goregutter seems to be fairly straightforward. Like most Boulder Class dragons, the Crimson Goregutter is relatively easy to train, due to its docile and peaceful nature. Saving the life of a Crimson Goregutter is enough for the dragon to remain loyal to its rescuer, and protect them in battle.

Short Description With its craggy igneous hide, heat-shielded eyes, and endless appetite for magma, the Eruptodon prefers to live inside volcanoes to be nearer to its food source. Although not much of a fighter, the Eruptodon provides tremendous damage control by eating any runaway lava — even if it's regurgitated by Gronckles! The Eruptodon nests at the lips of dormant volcanoes and stops eruptions by consuming the lava. The Eruptodon's body is covered in thick, spikeless volcanic rock armor made of cooled lava. Its eyes are protected by welder goggle-type lenses to help withstand the intense heat. Physical Features
Spiky lobes and protrusions on back and tail
Large, round head
Some physical features that are distinctive of the dragon species, in a list.
Colors
Bright red and yellow with dirty brown plates
Physical Description
Egg
An Eruptodon egg is oval and dark-colored. It has a fairly bland exterior with no pattern or adornment and looks fairly rock-like in this manner. In order for an Eruptodon egg to hatch, it requires to be completely sunk under lava, which is the Eruptodon's main food source. Hatchling to Adult
Eruptodons are large dragons lengthways. They have a rounded body and a proportionately huge tail, which is very thick and spans nearly twice their body length. Their wings are quite large and their heads are as big as their bodies. Their front legs are very small compared to their hind legs and they have several large, chunkyspiky lobes along their backs and tails. Its body is covered with thick spineless, volcanic rock armor made of cooled lava. Its eyes are protected by welder goggle-type lenses to help withstand the intense heat.
Titan Wing
Titan Wing Eruptodons increase a lot in size and have a considerable larger mouth. Their skin glows with a yellow color constantly, while their plates turn into dark orange. Their mouths glow brighter than their skin and their tongues turn yellow. Their dorsal and tail spikes become bigger, but remain the same color. Their eyes become pupilless and glow yellow, like the rest of their bodies.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Lava-Proof Skin Due to its lava-proof hide, the Eruptodon can live inside a volcano without being harmed. The eyes of the Eruptodon are surrounded by rocky armor, protecting them from being burned their volcanic homes.
Strength and Stamina The Eruptodon has been shown to be very strong, as the Great Protector was capable of lifting the heavy metal Diving Bell burdened with the added weight of Throk inside it, despite her already being weakened after recently laying an egg. Eruptodons appear to have a high level of stamina, as the Great Protector was able to fly from Caldera Cay to Vanaheim without stopping despite her old age.
Heat-Resistant Saliva The saliva of the Eruptodon is extremely resistant to heat, and it can be used to protect people who are trying to enter a volcano like the one on Caldera Cay.
Firepower The Eruptodon's fire comes from the lava that it eats. It fires this lava in a series of molten fireballs. These fireballs can cool down into hot rocks and can even construct a path that can be walked upon. It's very likely that when the Eruptodon fires its balls of lava, the lava mixes with the Eruptodon's heat-resistant saliva, which can be the reason why its lava blasts can be cooled down to form hot rocks very quickly.
Digging The Eruptodon is capable of digging into the crust of a dormant volcano in order to access the lava within, using its powerful jaws to smash rocks. Due to this, Eruptodons can cause dormant volcanoes to erupt. However, this can only happen if an Eruptodon enters a feeding frenzy, as the dragon is desperate to reach a food source.
Lava Eating The Eruptodon's main food source is lava. Because of this, it is able to stop volcanic eruptions by eating the lava and keeping the volcano stable. Even baby Eruptodons have been shown to be capable of doing this. It is due to this ability that the Eruptodon is worshiped by the Defenders of the Wing.
Weaknesses
If an Eruptodon does not consume lava for a long period of time, it will die.
The Eruptodon only produces one egg during its lifetime. This can cripple the species, as it can make their population very small. It probably reproduces asexually, as it is a very rare and rather sedentary dragon. In addition to this, the Eruptodon on Caldera Cay is referred to as male until laying its egg and is referred to as female after. If the egg of an Eruptodon is not immersed in lava like the kind inside the volcano on Caldera Cay, it will harden until it is like stone and the baby inside will die.
Behavior & Training
Personality The Eruptodon is the first known dragon species to eat lava. It can prevent volcanic eruptions by residing in the magma vent of a volcano and eating overflowing lava. As such, Mala and her people worship this dragon for protecting their village. She mentions that the Eruptodon never allows the lava to flow too far down, hinting that the dragon may have a protective streak over the whole island. It is not actually just a passive protector, however, as it actively rescues Throk when he is trapped in the lava with Hiccup's Diving Bell.
If an Eruptodon has not eaten for a long period of time, it will go into a feeding frenzy and will eat any lava it can find. If it can not find any, it will die. It does not require an active volcano to eat, as, if sufficiently motivated, it will tunnel into dormant volcanoes to access the lava, causing them to erupt in the process. Nothing, except lava in another direction, will stop them once they are in a feeding frenzy. Training Although no one in the Franchise is shown to actually train an Eruptodon, it is assumed to be fairly easy, as the Eruptodon on Caldera Cay, with time, seems to have naturally bonded with the residents. Other than this, the Eruptodons do not appear to be untrainable, and Fishlegs bonds very well with the baby Eruptodon, suggesting that perhaps the species is quite an easy one to train, which would fit with the general training references of most Boulder Class dragons. Most of the time, the older Eruptodon appears somewhat placid and sedentary; this behavioural pattern proves true to the younger Eruptodon, as it grows older, reinforcing the idea that training one would be straightforward.

Physical Description
Egg
Grapple Grounder eggs come in a variety of colors. They have a few large white bumps that stick out from it and the scales can be seen clearly on the surface of the egg. Hatchling to Adult
The Grapple Grounder is normally red, with golden or yellow spots or rings on its body. It has four horns and its body is long and slender. The tail is shaped like an arrow and it has the larger wings, compared to its body, than other dragons of the Boulder class. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Grapple Grounders are dark gray with black stripes. They have green wings and a green outlined arrow-shaped tail. There are small blue spots on their knees as well. They developed a pair of smaller horns, as well as grew more spines along its neck to the tail, which are also sharper and smaller.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Wrestling This dragon is described to be the wrestler of the dragon kingdom. They prefer to constrict their prey rather than use their fire, wrapping their victims with a bone-crushing squeeze similar to large constrictor snakes such as anacondas and boa constrictors.
Firepower The Grapple Grounder can shoot a light-blue pulse ball that is most likely made out of plasma. It can shoot multiple of the blue orbs at a time, but at a sacrifice of size. The strength of a Grapple Grounder's plasma shots varies by size; larger plasma shots move slowly but have a stronger magnetic pull while smaller plasma shots move very fast but have a weaker magnetic pull. This information could also infer it might be electromagnetic. If a Grapple Grounder takes a deep enough breath or charges it long enough, the fire will come out as a big blackish sphere that explodes impressively upon impact, almost fatal. Its bomb contains Magnesium Gel. In addition, the Grapple Grounder launches fireballs at its opponents and are said to create beautiful waves in the sky as they shoot.
Speed and Agility Being a snake-like dragon, the Grapple Grounder is very agile. It quickly twists and coils around its victims. It likes to slice its victims, much like the Razorwhip.
Weaknesses
The Grapple Grounder has slow attacks and can't dish out attacks in a fast amount of time, making them vulnerable to ships to fire.
When the Grapple Grounder is frustrated and has nothing to fight it may tie itself up in knots. This dragon also does not know when to quit or retreat.
Behavior & Training
Personality The Grapple Grounder is jumpy, aggressive, contentious, and described to be merciless to its enemies. It is also quite stubborn due to the fact that it doesn't know when to back down.
It is also known to lurk in the dark, however, it is unknown if it has night vision to help it orientate in the dark.

Physical Description
Short Description Everything about these dragons remind you of their home – they are icy blue and white in color, the spines on their back look like snowy mountains, and the spikes on their chin resemble icicles. They also have a tendency to freeze the water around them as they swim. Unfortunately, Groncicles can never make the Isle of Berk their home, as it is essential for them to remain in a cold environment. However, you can always visit them on Icestorm Island, where they are more than happy to meet you! Physical Features
Covered in snow and ice
Cold-blooded
Icicles below chin
Spikey ridges along the back, jaws, and limbs
Colors
Icy blue and white
Physical Description
Egg
Groncicle eggs are oval-shaped with large ice spikes protruding from the surface of it. It is unclear if the 'ice' is real ice or other substances for defense or ornamental purposes. Their eggs are one of the few eggs with well-defined geometrical shapes and are spiky. Hatchling to Adult
Groncicles are covered in snow and ice. Their spines or hunches on their back resemble snowy mountains. They have spikes under their chin which resemble icicles or snow cones. The Groncicle looks like a muscular Gronckle except that it has a longer body length, is covered in snow and ice, and lacks a tail bludgeon, instead having a long, streamline tail. Titan Wing
Groncicles that have reached the Titan Wing stage change quite a lot. Their body is darker, and there are light blue outlines of what seems to be their liquid nitrogen veins. Their wings have white rings and its edges develop small, spiky icicle-like structures. Titan Wing Groncicles' mouths glow purple and their eyes turn pinkish purple. Also, the icy spikes on their tails and under their chins become larger and thicker.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Liquid Nitrogen Fire The Groncicle shoots powerful streams of explosive Liquid Nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen can reach temperatures close to -321 °F or -196 °C. This can potentially freeze their victim to death, meaning it also has the coldest blast of all the dragons. The Groncicle can use its blast to fill the gaps of broken constructions.
Freezing Water The Groncicle is able to freeze water around it while swimming. This is probably because the ice in its veins causes the water around it to lose heat and freeze, though the reason for the Groncicle's uncanny behavior is unknown. One possible purpose is to freeze and trap their aquatic prey in the water.
Weaknesses
The Groncicle doesn't like warm climates, this is why it stays up north in the colder islands. When a Groncicle is in a warm climate for to long it can suffer lack of nutrition and comfort making it very vulnerable to the heat.
Behavior & Training
Personality Groncicles eat snow to generate their ice breath. They will also use soft snow and this cold breath to build their nests. They are seen to live in social settings with one another. Groncicles are a peaceful, friendly, non-aggressive species. Having been the first dragons to ever be peaceful with humans (with the ancient Vikings of Icestorm Island), they are naturally kind with people. Despite their cold natures, Groncicles are big softies. They are a helpful race that allies to those who treat them with respect. But they do not respond kindly to a lack of respect and should not be taken lightly. Their affinity to ice and snow means they must remain in cold environments or they will overheat. Summer in Berk, for example, is too warm for them. Training Groncicles like smoothies made of a mixture of arctic gentian, arctic poppy, and pumpkins. It's indicated that no other dragon, or human, enjoys this strange drink. In addition, some Groncicles are known to eat the sweet variety of Glowing Algae that blooms during the spring. However, this algae has such a high sugar content that it makes the Groncicles that consume it extremely hyperactive.

Short Description One of the toughest dragons in our world is the Gronckle. Gronckles have gigantic heads, short bodies, and round tails. Gronckles are lazy, and spend most of their time sleeping in communal heaps. They have been known to fall asleep while flying, waking only when they crash into the ocean or the side of a mountain. Gronckles have relatively small wings that beat as fast as a hummingbird's. They are slow in the air, but make up for this with their maneuverability. A Gronckle can fly backwards, sideways, and even hover. Gronckles attack from the air, where their primary weapon is most effective. Gronckles chew rocks, melting them in their bellies and firing them as balls of molten lava. Physical Features

Physical Description
Egg
Gronckle eggs are the smallest of all the species. Some are a bluish color, while others are goldish, some even purple, and have a rocky appearance. They also bounce around like jumping beans. They are shown to explode when they hatch. Hatchling to Adult
Because of its tremendous weight and small wings, it would seem impossible for them to fly. However, because the wings of a Gronckle beat at a speed similar to that of hummingbirds', dragonflies', or bees' wings, it is possible for one to sustain flight. In fact, a Gronckle can fly backward, sideways, and even hover in place. However, due to their massive weight and small wings, they are the slowest species in the dragon world, which is not helped by their extreme tendencies towards laziness and falling asleep whilst flying. Despite this, they can still perform some pretty impressive flight maneuvers when trained to do so. Its tail can be mistaken for the head if little attention is paid to it.
Because of its large stout body and clubbed tail, the Gronckle somewhat resembles an Ankylosaurus. It has huge jaws that can be used to hold food. It has a rather blunt nose horn and fairly stubby toe-claws. Its legs are practically useless in battle, and due to its short tail, it has a fairly small attack range. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Gronckles are volcano-like in color. They are black with irregular striping and eyes with no visible pupils. Their wings are gray with yellow edges. They mouth and nose are glowing yellow from the lava inside them. Beside the color, nothing else is changed from the adult form. It is unknown if the red stripes are lava or it is just their color.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Rechargeable Firepower The Gronckle can launch a devastating fire attack but is limited to six shots at a time. Both its fire attack and hovering flight pattern make it a very dangerous dragon. It can simply hover slightly out of reach of the Vikings and then blast them with its powerful fire. Unlike the other dragons, the Gronckle can refill its so-called shot limit fairly quickly.
Most dragons use a flammable gas, but the Gronckle eats rocks and then melts them in its stomach. So as long as there are edible rocks in the area, the Gronckles will be one of the few dragons to be able to refill their shot limit. The Gronckle's lava depends on the type of rocks they eat. They are able to produce regular flaming hot lava, lava coated rocks, Gronckle Iron, a transparent material, and lava of different colors.
Jaw Strength and Jaw Expansion Like all Boulder Class dragons, Gronckles have extremely strong jaws, being able to crush boulders with ease. They are able to hold large boulders in their mouth, eat them, and shoot back at their enemies.
Strength and Combat Gronckles have much strength, being able to lift heavy Vikings such as Fishlegs or Stoick and heavy objects. As would be expected, the Gronckle uses its brute strength as an advantage when fighting its opponents, whether they are Vikings or Dragons.
Dragon Root Immunity Gronckles are one of the few known dragons that are immune to Dragon Root, possibly because of their mineral-based diet. Therefore, it might be possible that the Hotburple, Grapple Grounder, and the Snafflefang are immune too.
Weaknesses
Allergies Gronckles appear to be prone to allergies, particularly seasonal or environmental ones. These manifest as respiratory symptoms such as sneezing. Sneezing in a dragon can involve snorting out fire or lava.
Overeating Eating too many rocks can make them overheat and also cause stomach upset, either of which can cause discomfort/pain, flatulence, and inability to produce lava blasts. Their fire is also dependent on the type of rocks consumed, ranging from those that give them uncontrollable magnetic forces to causing them to spit out glass.
Slow Speed Gronckles are one of the slowest and laziest dragons, making it easy for them to get left behind by other dragons. Much like Hotburples, they may also fall from the sky from falling asleep in mid flight.
Behavior & Training
Personality Gronckles are usually very friendly unless something angers or threatens them, and are said to be sociable to most dragons and animals. They often enjoy physical contact and nap in "communal heaps" with other Gronckles. As mentioned before, Gronckles are lazy and sometimes cranky dragons. They fly slowly due to their small wings and bulky bodies, but their fire attacks are devastating. They can be sweet-natured and motherly at times, especially towards their hatchlings or their riders. Gronckles can be extremely deadly, considering that they can shoot molten lava. But if you befriend a Gronckle (which is pretty easy), they will love you forever and are very protective over their owners. They like to spend time with their owners, and are very playful.
Gronckles have a bit of a dog-like personality as they apparently love to play catch. They love to get their belly rubbed, but according to Fishlegs they don't like to get their chins rubbed. Also, they can whine like dogs when upset. Training Gronckles love to eat dragon nip and can be calmed with it. Feeding them rocks can also help one train this dragon. Their main diet is rocks, but they can also be fed fish. Because of their generally warm and friendly nature, Gronckles are ideal for young and first-time trainers.

Short Description Vikings have described this dragon to be a mash-up of a walrus, bulldog, tadpole and trashcan but don’t let its sluggish looks fool you, the Hotburple has a striking power that parallels with that of a Night Fury’s. Like its Boulder Class brethren, the Gronckle, Hotburples are covered in bumps and have an affinity for molten minerals as well as possess the ability to make lava slugs out of iron ore. Physical Features

Physical Description
Egg
These dragons' eggs are oval in shape. They have large, smooth bumps protruding outwards from the entirety of the egg, just like those on an adult's body, though the ones on the eggs are more protrusive and larger, clumped more closely together. The egg, as with most dragons, seems to reflect the coloring of the baby Hotburple who is to emerge. Hatchling to Adult
Hotburples strongly resemble their Gronckle relatives, although they have a larger body and wings, as well as their eyes being positioned closer to the snout than to the ears. Hotburples also appear to have a larger tail bludgeon and a slightly smaller jaw, but with sharper and smaller teeth compared to Gronckles. Like Gronckles, Hotburples have tough body scales and hard bumps protruding from all over them. Their bodies are more multi-segmented than those of Gronckles, and the segments are larger in relation to one another. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Hotburples have different shades of blue and white as well as large dark blue spots on their body. Spines run along their body lengthwise and their initially significantly clubbed tail has been reduced to a smaller tail. They have grown a lot larger and stockier in build.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Jaw Strength Just like the Gronckles', the Hotburples' powerful jaws are able to crush boulders and iron. According to Ryker, the Hotburple is the only dragon species that can bite through dragon-proof metal.
Speed and Agility Hotburples are not the fastest of dragons. Their flight speed is the same as that of a Gronckle, despite Hotburples possessing larger wings, and their speed on land can barely be accounted for, given the fact that they move so little. When Hotburples do move, they do it slowly, in an almost lizard-like fashion. Their agility, except for when they are in a battle (when both speed and agility shoots up by a mile), is not particularly outstanding, as they are quite slow, and thus don't move quick enough in order to make tight turns. These dragons are also known to be clumsy, and often make guesswork of their landings, flopping to the ground when they can't really be bothered to time their landing correctly.
Strength and Combat A Hotburple in combat is an entirely different sight to what you would expect: the dragon goes into a frenzy when provoked, knocking down everything in its path and butting into enemies with roaring and ferocity. All Hotburples possess a large, powerful clubbed tail that can knock multiple people unconscious. They are able to carry heavy Vikings with a settle chair saddle in addition, and a Rumblehorn with their claws, indicating a greater strength even than Gronckles. This would fit with the key factors of most Boulder Class Dragons, the class being renowned for its strength. Just like Gronckles, Hotburples can use their large nasal horn and their rounded heads to charge and ram their enemies.
Sleep Flight If they get exhausted from flying, Hotburples have a special ability that allows them to continue to fly when they fall asleep. This ability is possibly similar to that of dolphins, allowing them to keep one half or a part of their brain awake whilst the other part sleeps. Gronckles however, tend to fall out of the sky, crashing into an ocean, roofed forest, or a grassy field.
Firepower and Recharge Abilities Just like Gronckles, Hotburples can recharge their shot limits by feeding off of and digesting rocks or scrap iron before firing them as balls of molten lava.
Weaknesses
Hotburples are one of the laziest dragons known to exist, even lazier than Gronckles. They also happen to be very slow and clumsy, as well as frequently falling asleep, often at inconvenient times. However, when sufficiently angered, a Hotburple becomes far more active and dangerous, making up for said weaknesses.
Behavior & Training
Personality Hotburples are much lazier compared to Gronckles, as they sleep more and snore even louder. Hotburples are prone to sleepwalking, with them not waking up even after walking through a wall. They might be described as having the personality of a lazy cat, which is opposed to Gronckles, which have a bit of a bulldog-like personality. They have a high appetite for minerals and iron, but mostly just eat scraps, which do the same job. Despite this, they can be incredibly aggressive and hostile if faced with a crisis. Training Hotburples are one of the easiest dragons to train, due to their indolent, sedentary, and docile nature. Feeding them rock or scrap metal will quickly earn the dragons' trust, but behaving kindly towards them is also necessary. Once trained, the dragons will remain loyal to their owners and will do anything to protect them. Owing chiefly to their laziness, Hotburples are often taken advantage of, or not treated very kindly, often being used merely as giant forges through which people can create metal. Therefore, a little kindliness goes a long way with a Hotburple, and they will be friendly towards near enough anyone.

Physical Description
Short Description Born every one hundred or so years, the Screaming Death has all the strengths of its subordinate cousin, the Whispering Death, with none of its weaknesses. It is the most powerful dragon Berk has faced since the Red Death. Unlike the Whispering Death, this dragon has no aversion to sunlight. In fact, young Screaming Deaths are drawn to bright light. Attraction to light wears off as the dragon gets older. It shoots large spines from its tail and can breathe massive amounts of fire in a single blast, but the Screaming Death's real strength is its insatiable appetite. Like the Whispering Death, the Screaming Death likes to tunnel, consuming sea stacks and decimating entire islands. Physical Features
Long snake-like body
Large chomping mouth
Rows of teeth
Small wings
Spiny frills along underbelly
Red spikes on head
Expandable spiny frill layers on neck
Rough scales
Colors
Albino white with red highlights
Physical Description
Egg
The appearance of a Screaming Death egg is very similar to a Whispering Death egg because the Screaming Death is apparently 'just' a mutant Whispering Death. The only difference is that a Screaming Death egg is larger and is colored white with red spots. Hatchling to Adult
The Screaming Death is a heavily mutated, albino Whispering Death. It is white in color, has large red eyes, a longer and a more massive body, and larger tail than the 'average' Whispering Death. It also has three rows of teeth, but they are aligned differently than those of the Whispering Death, set in a chin reminiscent of a Red Death. They have rows of frilly spines that line the edges of its unsegmented underbelly. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Screaming Deaths are larger, with more spines on their bodies. They have red stripes on their wings and gray backs. They also have more teeth and a grayish face.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Fireballs The Screaming Death shoots large, explosive balls of fire. These fireballs are unlike that of the Night Fury and similar to a mortar, but with a much higher rate of fire. When the Screaming Death is breathing fire, it releases excess fire from gaps in its frill (when any flammable gas is emitted in the inside of his mouth, a similar phenomenon can be observed as a small explosion occurs). At least a dozen fireballs can be launched in rapid succession. This is reminiscent of a gun with a muzzle.
Strength & Combat Being a dragon of gigantic proportions, the Screaming Death possesses incredible strength, which, combined with its weight, makes it one of the strongest dragons around. It can effortlessly crash through sea stacks and tunnel through rocks, causing whole islands to sink. The Screaming Death utilizes its immense size and weight to crash unto opponents, and its spiky tail as a whip or flail. It also utilizes its spine shots to launch as projectiles towards enemies, much like other Whispering Deaths. Its dense scales protect it from harm while it launches waves of explosive fireballs. It also has a powerful, disorienting roar which it uses to distract and disorient foes.
Speed & Agility The Screaming Death is much faster than the average Whispering Death, to the point they can even catch up with an average flying Night Fury while in flight. On the ground, it slithers at a much slower pace, like most other Whispering Deaths.
Tunneling Like other Whispering Deaths, the Screaming Death can tunnel underground, using its strong jaws and spike-ridden skin. However, its tunnels are much bigger, allowing it to sink islands with little difficulty. Its size is wide enough to fit a flying Monstrous Nightmare.
Sonic Shriek/Deafening Scream The Screaming Death gets its name from its powerful disorienting sonic roar that negatively affects the flight of other dragons, causing disorientation and distraction. It also seems to use this to summon Whispering Deaths to its aid, suggesting they are immune to its scream.
Dense Scales The Screaming Death appears to have incredibly tough and strong scales, the thickest of any dragon. The scales appear to give it extreme protection against most attacks, including a Deadly Nadder's spine shot or a Night Fury's plasma blast. Furthermore, their scales are dense enough as to be impenetrable by Dragon Root-tipped arrows, making the Screaming Death one of the very few dragons indirectly immune to its effects.
Alpha Control The Screaming Death is capable of controlling other dragons to a certain degree. The group of dragons under the Screaming Death's command are known as Exiles, dragons that followed the giant dragon after it destroyed their islands. However, Screaming Deaths can be controlled by larger Alpha Dragons, such as the Bewilderbeast.
Weaknesses
When they are young, they are attracted to sunlight - however, they grow out of this weakness as they age. Additionally, their large size can be used against them in the proper terrain, Still, it was implied by Fishlegs that a Scauldron's boiling water can rip off the scales of a Screaming Death, making it the only thing that can penetrate this dragon's thick hide.and when the scales are ripped off it leaves the Screaming Death vulnerable to attack.
Behavior & Training
Personality Initially, the Screaming Death was violent and destructive, even to the point of destroying entire islands. It was later shown to be merely seeking its mother. After the reunion with her and his siblings, the Screaming Death became calmer than in previous times and thanked Hiccup by roaring at him before leaving for parts unknown.
The Screaming Death seen on Berk appears to be the Alpha of the group of Whispering Deaths that attacked Berk. Though this might be because the dragons are siblings, looking after one another, including helping the Screaming Death when its wing was injured and gathering food. It can also mean the Screaming Death has certain control over its Whispering Deaths.
'The real strength' of the breed is said to be their insatiable appetites. Like the Whispering Death, they favor tunneling, and to feed on sea stacks, and resulting in decimating entire islands.
Screaming Deaths have extremely strong homing instincts, holding strong bonds to certain locations. Training
Like a Whispering Death, training a Screaming Death is of utmost difficulty, if not impossible. The best way to train one would be to gain the trust of its family and mother, which may help to train them, as the mother seems to have a reasonable amount of control over their mutant child.

Short Description Although sightless, the Sentinels still keep close watch over the dragon Graveyard on the Isle of Vanaheim. These vast, stony Dragons show little room for weakness, but a clever mind can exploit their blindness. Be wary, however; they have a keen sense of smell. Physical Features
Large body covered in scutes, rounded tail
Colors
Stony grey with mossy green highlights
Physical Description
Egg
A Sentinel egg looks much as you would expect, respective of the dragon itself: small and round shaped; covered in what appears to be rocky plate. The pattern and color are reminiscent of an adult's back scales. Hatchling to Adult
Sentinels are large dragons iconic for their tough rock-like epidermal layers that if pieced together with smaller stones, make them almost seemingly covered in moss. Their stature and bony wings resemble that of gargoyles. These scale clusters are more prominent on their faces and form rows of bony plates on their chest. They have a pair of short horns on their head, complemented by similar ones on along their neck and one on their nose. These dragons are blind and thus have a translucent blue cataract over their eyes. Their wings are triangular, ending with several spines. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Sentinels are almost identical to adults. However, instead of a stony gray, they are grey blue with black patterns. Their eyes are bright yellow.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Sonic Screeches The Sentinels defend Vanaheim with their sonic screeches that can disorientate several dragons at once. These screeches are powerful enough to extinguish the fire jacket of a Monstrous Nightmare in seconds and knock the dragon out of the sky.
Downdraft Wingblasts In order to chase dragons back to Vanaheim or keep them away from the island, the Sentinels often use their powerful, plated wings to create a downdraft wingblast. These blasts are strong enough to knock dragons out off the air and slow down falling dragons enough for them not to die or break bones on impact with the ground.
Remaining Motionless The Sentinels are capable of remaining motionless for days at a time, barely seeming to breathe, which allows them to surprise and ambush unsuspecting predators, adversaries, or intruders in Vanaheim.
Teamwork These dragons are known to work profficiently in teams. When stationary, they each have different posts and positions to take up around the island. Upon the threat of dragons leaving or intruders, they often surround them in the air in small groups, working in a pack to hunt them down and corner them. They are able to communicate through sound and seem to take no leader role in the pack, everybody working in equality to base their actions in accordance with what the rest of the pack are doing. Their lack of a leader when hunting in packs is certainly to their advantage, as many pack-hunting dragon species are lost without their leader.
Heightened Senses Sentinels are naturally blind, but they compensate for this by developing extremely heightened senses of hearing and smell to navigate and track other dragons. They also possess the ability to remember scents after a long period of time and adapt accordingly. However, their acute sense of smell can be used against them.
Dragon Knowledge Sentinels are extremely knowledgeable about the different dragon classes and breeds because numerous dying dragons go to Vanaheim. As such, they are said to know the strengths and weaknesses of nearly all known dragon species, except for a few, like the Night Fury. They use these to help care for and cater to the needs of different dragons, along with helping construct their funeral grounds.
Weaknesses
Blindness As aforementioned, Sentinels are born blind. Despite having sharp hearing and smell, they can be outsmarted if one confuses their sense of smell or hearing, which they rely on crucially to track other dragons.
Unknown Dragons Dragons that the Sentinels don’t know too well like the Night Fury and any other dragon that never rested on Vanaheim, or that they have never encountered, can avoid them with relative ease.
Pepper Gas Chemical attacks such as Pepper gas can confound a Sentinel's acute sense of smell, as well as burn their mouths and eyes, effectively incapacitating them.
Behavior & Training
Personality Sentinels are born solely to guard the funeral grounds of Vanaheim and assist sick or dying dragons there. As such, they rule the area with an iron fist and appear to be extremely territorial, as they forbid any dragons from leaving the area. They are also extremely aggressive to the Grim Gnashers, which are perfectly healthy and prey on sick dragons.
They guard the area on various posts around and on the island, perpetually stiff and stationary like statues. They remain so stationary that a millennia of snow can remain on the body of some individuals without falling off. However, upon the slightest sign of threat, they crackle awake. A Sentinel's instinct to guard and protect is so strong that even those who are removed from Vanaheim or born elsewhere tend to protect a selected area.
However, they do exhibit kindness and fondness to the inhabitants of Vanaheim. They help to construct funeral grounds and provide them with food. Training To those who showcase the right intentions, Sentinels appear to be less hostile. Although their instinct to guard and protect is strong, a Sentinel will use its intelligence to know who is a friend and who is not. By helping them guard the area and proving that you are of no threat, Sentinels will grant you the respect and lower their aggression, even allowing you in and out of the island. Their trust can be earnt.
Short Description Known as "Berk's Builders," Shovelhelms use their scooping chins to dig and their hard heads to hammer, making them very handy to have around! Shovelhelms prefer to stand back and assess the situation. On Berk they find the problem and fix it. In battle they find the problem and take advantage! Physical Features
Pointed chin
Head frill
Paddle-shaped tail
Stubby arms
Colors
Chartreuse
Aquamarine with purple to brown stripes
Physical Description
Egg
The Shovelhelm's egg is light blue with brown stripes. It has four rows of spikes, each run down the egg. The Shovelhelm's egg tapers towards the top. Hatchling to Adult
Shovelhelms' colors range from chartreuse to aquamarine with purple to brown stripes. They have large fangs on their lower jaw, long chins, and possess a frill on the back of their heads. Their tails are paddle-shaped and are almost manatee or beaver-like, which might also be used for their building abilities. They possess stubby arms, but they have been seen to rest or even stand on them, making the species semi-quadrupedal. Shovelhelms come in the typical range of colors, the most common ones being aquamarine and a slightly beige red. Their scales are splotched with tropical markings that run along with their faces, wings, back, and legs, leaving out only their underbelly. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Shovelhelms are brown, with yellow wings and tails, blue frills, and navy blue wavy stripes along their backs and wings. Their nasal horns are also much longer and sharper. Titan Wing Shovelhelms also developed a row of spines along their backs. Their frill is larger and has fewer spikes, making it look similar to that of a Styracosaurus. They also have a single large claw on each of their wings.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Strength and Combat Shovelhelms possess well-developed strength to help with their behaviors of building and fixing. A hit from their head is stated to be as strong as a hammer and Clawlifter is shown to be strong enough to carry Hiccup all the way to Valka's Mountain. They can also use their tails for offensive and defensive purposes.
Firepower Shovelhelms are able to produce orange-colored or green flames that can be used to illuminate dark environments. The flames come out in long and wide streams, similar to that of a Stoker Class dragon.
Digging Shovelhelms are able to use the ledge on their chin to scoop out and remove dirt during their building behavior.
Weaknesses
Shovelhelms aren't particularly fast in the air or on the ground. They are very simple and docile and can have their feelings hurt very easily.
Behavior & Training
Personality Shovelhelms are sociable creatures with a friendly temperament towards other dragons. It's possible that these dragons might work with or for other dragons, such as the Bewilderbeast for nest building.
These dragons are also known to be level-headed and intelligent. They nip the root of the problem, instead of recklessly attacking or charging into action. They like to examine the situation first, then evaluate it and find the best way to solve it. Training Shovelhelms can be coaxed with fish. If they are curious, let them help you build something. Like the majority of Boulder Class dragons, Shovelhelms are amiable with generally friendly personalities, unless feeling threatened: they also don't like to jump straight into a fight, indicating that training one would presumably be fairly straightforward.

Short Description Active and fastidious (for the Boulder Class), it has a soft spot for its favorite snack: geodes! Unfortunately, this makes it an easy target for trappers. The Snafflefang is built tough enough to wade into battle and swing its spiked tail while blasting opponents with exploding fireballs. Physical Features
Spiked tail bludgeon
Nasal horn
Diamond-sharp teeth
Colors
Blue and red
Green and orange
Physical Description
Egg
Snafflefang eggs are covered with green and orange blotches all over their surface. The egg has several purple spines that are probably used to fend off attackers. Hatchling to Adult
The Snafflefang has a rounded body and a big head. Its first pair of legs are very small, but the second pair of legs are big. It has horns on its snout and on its forehead that resembles a Terrible Terror's, a row of spines running along its back, and a spiked tail bludgeon that resembles the shape of a thistle. Its skin pattern mimics that of a Holstein cow or a pinto horse. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Snafflefangs are yellow in color with an orange and pink outline on their broader wings. The spikes on their back are also pink and Titan Wing Snafflefangs have developed a new pair of smaller horns below their original pair of horns. Their tail bludgeon's spikes are pointed to a single direction and appear neater and more organized.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Firepower The Snafflefang's fire is shown to be brightly-colored which can be used to illuminate dark places. It is also said that their fire is highly explosive. Their fireballs are flecked with crystals, most likely sharp shards which would add an increased element of danger to the fire, as the shards would pierce.
Jaw Strength To help in eating geodes, Snafflefangs possess many sharp, diamond-shaped teeth. These give them the ability to crush the hard geodes and also serves as a good attack and defense mechanism. Whenever a Snafflefang's teeth bite into geodes, they leave interesting leftover, shards of crystal.
Strength and Combat Snafflefangs are able to carry humans on their backs and longboats that are loaded with a multitude of objects. Their tail bludgeons are covered with large spikes and can be used for offensive and defensive purposes. The Snafflefangs’ bulky heads and horns can also be used for ramming, as their heads are large and well-armored.
Weaknesses
Food Sources Because of their food choice, Snafflefangs can be easily found in certain areas, which is why they are vulnerable to dragon trappers.
Friendliness Because Snafflefangs are friendly and trusting, they are easy targets for unscrupulous humans such as Dragon Hunters: in addition to this, they tend to eat in very specific places, their diet consisting only of geodes, meaning that a Hunter wishing to trap one would not find them difficult to find.
Behavior & Training
Personality As Boulder Class dragons, Snafflefangs love eating geodes. It is said that they chew on their food like dogs, and will stay in places where the crystals are abundant, suggesting they can sniff them out with ease.
Said to be extremely active and playful among the typical slow and lazy Boulder Class dragons, the Snafflefang is often seen frolicking in Valka's Mountain and welcoming newcomers warmly. Some dragon species may interpret their playful physicality as aggression, however, leading to dragon-dragon altercations. Training Snafflefangs are relatively easy to train, as they are calm and peaceful dragons. If a person saves a Snafflefang's life, the dragon will be forever thankful and will stay close to its savior.

Short Description This Boulder Class Bruiser is like no other, showing unrivaled strength in its abilities to pulverize boulders with their large and boisterous bodies; not to mention its many fast-moving legs. And although it is not known for being the speediest of fliers, the Thunderpede makes up for that particular weakness in its overall physical, and brute strength. Physical Features
Six legs
Huge clawed forearms
Small spines along the back
Small wings
A horn on chin and nose
Colors
Bright red back, wings, and arms with a white belly and light blue legs
Physical Description
Egg
The Thunderpede egg is a dark brown and rough spherical egg. The base of the egg appears to be cracked and a reddish glow that resembles lava can be seen from beneath the fragments of shell. Hatchling to Adult
The Thunderpede is one of the few dragon species with more than 6 limbs (4 legs and 2 wings), with a total of 10 limbs (8 arms and legs and 2 wings). This large-sized dragon's legs are small and scrawny while its arms are big and strong. The jackhammer-like forelegs of this ruthless Boulder Class bruiser can pulverize a massive boulder in seconds, and a Viking even faster! Just like the legs, the wings of this dragon are small for its size (like in many other Boulder Class dragons) but can flap in a great speed. It has a creamy underbelly and a crimson coloration on the back. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Thunderpedes are dark orange in color. Their scales show up more prominently and there are a few brown stripes along its back. They appear to have strong, hard plates on their chest in between their massive forearms with three razor-sharp claws. Titan Thunderpedes have three large canines on their lower jaw and spikes on the top of their snout, neck, and tail. They also have fairly small wings.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Strong Forearms The Thunderpede has strong forearms that it uses to pulverize objects, such as Vikings and boulders. It can use them to attack or defend. These limbs are incredibly muscular and they possess three massive, sharp claws on each one. They use them to pulverize large boulders into fine, small bits, giving it its position in the Boulder Class.
Firepower Like many Boulder Class dragons, the Thunderpede blasts small balls of fire at its opponents. The fire is powerful enough to melt rocks.
Strength and Combat Considering the very small wings compared to its body, the Thunderpede is quite a powerful dragon, since it is capable of flight.
Weaknesses
Thunderpedes aren't very stealthy because their feet make a loud 'pitter-patter' noise when they are walking (or running), which gives you a chance to escape. The soft belly of the Thunderpede could be considered its weak spot, as it is not as well armored and can be attacked without as much effort.
Behavior & Training
Personality Thunderpedes are social dragons, which live in groups, which are led by an Alpha. They communicate through signs involving stomping and gesturing with their front limbs. However, they usually only want their belly rubbed.
Thunderpedes sleep in caves on a foam-like substance to keep their belly soft. They keep rock gardens in their lairs either as food or as decorations.

Thunderpedes can be found on the following islands:
Dark Deep Dragon's Edge Drenchwood Forest Edge Cove Evening Bay Glacier Island Hidden World Isle of Berk The Little Isles Quaking Cavern Resolution Reef Unnamed Islands Whispering Death Island
Short Description Classified as a Boulder Class dragon, the Whispering Death is one of the most feared creatures on the Isle of Berk. Vikings can identify a Whispering Death by its bulging eyes, spiked body and the hundreds of sharp teeth that line the entirety of its mouth. These deadly teeth can rotate, making an eerie noise that sounds like hundreds of people whispering. “The Whisper” and the sound of the ground rumbling are the only two signs that this beast is approaching. While other dragons are sensitive to these signs, Vikings have a difficult time hearing these noises… until it’s too late. Physical Features
Large head and mouth with rotating teeth inside
Sharp spines
White bulging eyes
Colors
Grayish steel green body with red highlighted spikes
Physical Description
Egg
Their eggs are smooth and oval, and of dark turquoise color with even darker spots. The ones in the series have smaller spots. Hatchling to Adult
Whispering Deaths resemble more like a giant gulper eel than a Screaming Death, with bulging eyes, spiny face and six rows of rotating teeth in their mouths. They also greatly resemble a serpentine Deadly Nadder, but with no legs and only spikes decorating their undersides.
Rarely, some varieties that live in deep, lightless caverns have developed a protuberance from their snouts instead of a horn. At the end of this is a luminescent bulb to aid with the Whispering Death's sight. Titan Wing
Titan Wing Whispering Deaths are bigger and armed with many more rows of larger, sharper teeth, making them even more dangerous. They have bigger eyes that do not show their pupils, their eyes are encircled by a small white ring. Titan Wing Whispering Deaths are covered with more, sometimes larger, dark blue spikes. These spikes can be found on their chin, behind their eyes, their neck and on their tail. They have pairs of purple wings with glossy blue edges. Their body is sand brown and the bottom of their chin is faint purple in color.
Abilities & Weaknesses
Abilities
Rotating Teeth Whispering Deaths have special ability to tunnel underground at great speeds because of their rotating sharp teeth. As these rows of teeth move backward, it literally sucks everything in a good range in its path. This is called the vacuum effect.
Speed and Agility The Whispering Death’s body is long and extremely flexible, and it can simply spins its body in a circular motion at a higher rate in order to fly faster. With its long, thin body, the tail often makes a whip-crack noise.
Spine Shot Whispering Deaths are able to shoot their spines just like a Deadly Nadder, which grow on the head and along the length of his body.
Hunting and Fishing Whispering Deaths are shown to hunt from underground. It is quite possible they use tunnels to trap their prey so they can hunt much easier. It is also implied that the Whispering Death can swim.
Weaknesses
Light Sensitivity Being essentially underground cave dwellers, Whispering Deaths are sensitive to bright light and can be deterred by it. They can tolerate overcast conditions however, as long as the sun is not out or hidden behind cloud cover.
Bite Limitations Although Whispering Deaths can efficiently chew through rock and most other material, they are unable to break through metal plating, specifically cast iron.
Poor Eyesight Whispering Deaths have poor eyesight. This might be connected to the lack of a visible pupil, or living in a dark environment.
Behavior & Training
Personality Whispering Deaths are extremely dangerous, like most other dragons, and are able to chew their victims after their ingestion, using their six rows of rotating teeth. They usually live in underground tunnels they burrow themselves, using a burrowing attack against oncoming enemy/prey.
When Whispering Deaths find intruders in their tunnels, they will forcibly eject them from the nearest pit. Whispering Deaths are known to be more dangerous in their infant stages, in contrast to their adult forms. They say that they have less control over their rotating teeth and spines, and are described to be "out of control saw blades". Young Whispering Deaths are known to be extremely territorial of their homeland, "claiming it as their own". Training Whispering Deaths are almost untrainable. They are very destructive and aggressive in nature, attacking anything in their way and are generally feared by other dragons and humans in general. The only way to train a Whispering Death would be to capture it and take your time until you eventually gain its trust or by raising one as a hatchling. You can earn a Whispering Death's respect if you help reunite it with a family member or save its life. Whispering Deaths love to be brushed.
