So you may be thinking to yourself What exactly is a canon? Well, to put it simply, it is an outline of a "pre-made" character that is available for "adoption" by staff or a member. Even though I called them "pre-made" doesn't mean you have to adjust your roleplay style to adjust to them. What we have provided are just rough outlines of the character. It is up to you to give the character life and add your roleplaying flare to them! You may also be wondering what I mean by "adoption". This simply means that we created the character, and we are putting it out for someone else to use. Applications are taken very seriously and looked over by staff members to ensure the style of roleplay and character fits the small bio we've provided. Canons are available to everyone and anyone who applies for them- the trick is whoever comes first and has the best application gets the canon and they are marked as taken. Here are some rules and guidelines for applying for a canon.
Franchise Canons and Leadership Canons are limited to one canon per member, however, Story Canons created by staff for plot purposes are not limited (except in cases where a member has requested multiple canons).
OC Family members of franchise characters must be reserved before starting your application and are also limited to one per member.
All canon reservations will be first come first serve. Please note that this does not mean that you are guaranteed the canon if you are the first person to apply.
Keep in mind, canons are usually essential to the plot. Being active is important because of this.
The canon is reserved for 2 weeks from the day you give your notice.
Before the 2 weeks are up you must send the bio/application to a member of staff. If it's not finished, send in what you have so far and we can give you another week or so to finish.
If we do not approve the canon application, don't freak out. Chances are, you won't be accepted the first time you post a bio. Adjustments will probably be suggested or requested. If we suggest changes, the canon is still reserved for you for another two weeks to allow you to make minor edits.
Staff also reserve the right to deny a member a canon if we feel they are not the right fit for a character.
Canon Difficulties
Beginner An easy character to play for anyone and a good starter for someone new at role-play. Beginning characters will not have an excessive amount of plot action, and won't be as grounded when it comes to creating their history. To play a beginner canon, you may have some grammar and spelling mistakes. Your average post should at least meet the minimum post length of 200 words.
Intermediate A bit more demanding of a character, with more responsibilities to the plot. You'll be expected to post more than a beginner and include more description and dialogue. The application standards for this will be a bit tougher. To play an intermediate canon, you should have decent grammar with very few mistakes. Your average post should be a little higher than the minimum, around 350 words.
Advanced Advanced requires that you fully grasp this character in every aspect. You'll participate very often in threads with various members. Advanced canons should be played as strong and compelling characters. As scary as that sounds, we encourage you to go for advanced if you've been roleplaying for some time. It requires a bit of work but is very rewarding. To play an advanced canon, grammar should be excellent with next to no spelling errors. Your average post should be much higher than the minimum, around 500 words.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III | 37-Years-Old | (Toothless) Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III is the main protagonist of the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. He is the son of Valka and the late Hooligan chief, Stoick the Vast, thus making him the heir, and later, the chief of the tribe. His dragon and best friend, Toothless, is a Night Fury, the rarest and most intelligent of the dragon species. By the end of the franchise, he marries Astrid Hofferson and they eventually have a daughter, Zephyr, and a son, Nuffink. Advanced
Astrid Haddock | 37-Years-Old | (Stormfly) Astrid Hofferson is a female Viking warrior of Clan Hofferson of the Hooligan Tribe, and the next Chieftess of Berk. In spite of her initial fallouts with Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and disdain toward dragons, Astrid ends up becoming his lifelong confidante, thanks to Toothless, and quickly adapts to a life with dragons. In the final act of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, she marries Hiccup and she officially becomes Chieftess of the Hooligan Tribe. Intermediate
Child 1: Zephyr Haddock | 12-Years-Old | (Dart) Zephyr Haddock is the firstborn child and only daughter of Hiccup and Astrid Haddock. Zephyr Haddock was born a number of years after all the dragons of Berk flew off to live in the Hidden World. She is described as having her father's nervous personality and carrying notebooks around with her as he had. She's an instigator and creative with the many traps she designs. She's cynical and sarcastic like Hiccup was in his younger years. She's also seen to be stubborn in refusing to change her mind about dragons despite her parents' attempt to show her the truth. Intermediate
Child 2: Nuffink Haddock | 10-Years-Old | (Pouncer) Nuffink Haddock is the son and second-born child of Hiccup and Astrid. Nuffink is described as having his mother's personality, being adventurous and turbulent. His love for adrenaline like his father can be seen when he's thrown up in the air and he's loving every second of it. Nuffink was also completely unfazed by getting hit with his sister's nonlethal dragon defense systems, as he readily stated he was okay after taking a full-on hit by the swinging battering ram she installed to ward off dragons at Snoggletog. He also had a tendency to bang his head against hard objects like rocks for fun. Intermediate
Other Family: Valka Haddock | 57-Years-Old | (Cloudjumper) Valka is Hiccup's long-lost mother and Stoick's wife who was abducted in a dragon attack twenty years ago. Always an advocate of peace between dragons and Vikings, Valka has since lived among dragons, learned their ways, discovered their secrets and become their fierce protector. She is strong and uncompromising, but at her core still possesses the overwhelming love of a wife and mother. Intermediate
Other Family: Gobber the Belch | 72-Years-Old | (Grump) Gobber is Stoick's crass, opinionated friend and trusty right-hand man. Over the years, he's gone from village blacksmith, forging weapons for dragon slaying, to building saddles for riding them. He even performs dragon dentistry! Peace, as it turns out, is hard work and Gobber has seen the brunt of it, tasked with building dragon-friendly contraptions that make living with the beasts possible. As a result, Gobber seems constantly put upon, his complaints echoed only by Grump, his fussy lay-about dragon. Though outwardly curmudgeonly, Gobber is actually the most loyal and kindhearted Viking around — he just wouldn't want anyone to know it. Beginner

Fishlegs Ingerman | 36-Years-Old | (Meatlug) Fishlegs Ingerman is Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III's closest friend in the franchise. He is a very sensitive, caring person, and has an incredible knowledge about dragons. He is very big and chubby and often spouts off information about dragons whenever he can, usually as if he were describing the stats of a creature in an RPG. His enthusiasm for dragons knows no bounds and he delights in keeping detailed records of their individual traits and characteristics. Despite being easily intimidated, Fishlegs is clever and tenacious, making him a formidable rival for Snotlout in the battle for Ruffnut's affections. Intermediate
Ruffnut Thorston | 36-Years-Old | (Barf) Ruffnut Eugene Thorston is a member of the Hairy Hooligan Tribe. She is the fraternal twin of Tuffnut Thorston, whom she often argues with, sometimes to the point of physical violence, though never seriously enough to separate them for too long. Her dragon is a Hideous Zippleback named Barf and Belch, which she shares with her brother. Ruffnut is tomboyish in nature, mostly because she is a Viking, but she does tend to find it offensive when Tuffnut negatively comments about her physique. Ruffnut can often be smug, snarky, anarchic, irresponsible and sometimes downright vicious but she also has a strong compassionate and selfless side. Intermediate
Tuffnut Thorston | 36-Years-Old | (Belch) Tuffnut LaVerne Thorston is a member of the Hairy Hooligan Tribe. He is the fraternal twin of Ruffnut Thorston in the movie franchise and they are constantly arguing with each other, often to the point of physical violence against each other or other Berkians, though usually never seriously enough to separate them for too long. His dragon is a Hideous Zippleback named Barf and Belch, which he shares with his sister. Together, he and his sister love to get into trouble, even if it means getting scolded by the chief of the village. Tuffnut likes the idea of Ruffnut being in danger, as he states when Ruffnut was on fire one time, he just watched for a while before he decided to help put her out. Intermediate
Snotlout Jorgenson | 37-Years-Old | (Hookfang) Cocky and smug, Snotlout, 20, is a hero in his own mind, always carrying himself with the utmost bravado, despite having emerged from puberty as the shortest, squattest Viking of the gang. Snotlout is very arrogant, bordering on narcissistic and prone to grandiose delusions of perfection, popularity and extreme attractiveness and consequentially his egomania causes him to have a huge problem with authority or being able to admit responsibility for his mistakes or misdeeds, for which he always has some justification. Intermediate
Eret, Son of Eret | 42-Years-Old | (Scullcrusher) Eret, Son of Eret, is both cocky and kind-hearted. He became Skullcrusher's rider following the death of Stoick. Once a Dragon Trapper who used to work for Drago Bludvist, Eret is now loyal to the Vikings and is Hiccup's right-hand man. In spite of his cavalier façade, Eret is rather charming, heroic, and kind-hearted. He is also fully aware of his rugged good-looks, displaying a slight arrogance on occasion, but still doesn't appreciate Ruffnut leering at him. He seems to only bond closely with a few selected individuals, namely Hiccup and Astrid. Intermediate

Mala | 44-Years-Old Mala is the Queen of the Defenders of the Wing tribe who makes her first debut in Dragons: Race to the Edge, Season 3. She eventually, and unexpectedly, fell in love with Dagur the Deranged before marrying him as well. As leader of the Defenders of the Wing, Mala holds high authority over the island and does everything she can to ensure its safety, even if it means carrying the fate of both her island or people on her own shoulders. Borgar Skallagrim Leader of the Hysteric Tribe
Appearance: Physically, Borgar is the typical Viking man. He stands just over 6ft with a broad, muscular frame. His dark brown hair, which is shaved down to his skin on the sides of his head, reaches just past his shoulders and is usually tied with thin strips of leather. His long beard is well kept and usually in one large intricate braid, or separated into smaller braids and embellished with small beads and colored leather strips. His hands, arms, neck, face, and the sides of his head are covered in stylized knotwork tattoos. His typical attire consists of leather boots and pants, a deep purple and blue silk tunic, with a large sash and belt with various pouches, knives, and his mead horn hung from it. Over his tunic, he wears a bearskin cape and a dragon-tooth necklace. His armor is made from furs, leather, metal, and dragon scales, and his helmet and pauldron are adorned with dragon horns.
Personality: Borgar is a complicated person. He is smart, curious, ambitious, and not without his flaws. He is charismatic and charming, but also manipulative; he's confident and sure of himself and his purpose, but not overly arrogant; he's intellectual and interested in the technological advancements of the Hysterians, but misogynistic and condescending towards women. Borgar always strives to embody the ideals of Norse society. He also has the common Norse belief that one’s fate has already been decided, and attributes the twists and turns in life to the whims of the gods. He believes that his purpose in life is to end the "tyranny" of the dragons once and for all and save his fellow Vikings. He views the Dragon Riders as nothing more than the next Drago Bludvist, and he's convinced that dragons are incapable of being anything less than bloodthirsty beasts that attack villages and steal livestock.
History: Not much is known about Borgar before he washed ashore on Hysteria. He appeared to be the sole survivor of a shipwreck off the coast of Hysteria, which was thought to have been caused by the Doomfang that resides in the open ocean near the Hysteric inlet. The young man was discovered unconscious and half-drowned. A passerby found him and carried him back to the village where he was tended to by some of the village women. Three days later, he awoke in a panic screaming about dragons. When he was finally calmed down, he recounted how his village was raided and burned to the ground by a horde of dragons and he and his tribe were forced to evacuate and find a new village. There was a huge storm and the ship was capsized, and he realized he didn't know if anyone else made it out alive. The gathered Hysterians remarked that he must have the gods favor if he survived not only the storm, but the Doomfang as well.
Dragon: None. Although Borgar hates dragons and forbids dragons to be brought into the village, he made an exception for one dragon. The unholy offspring of the King of Dragons serves as the Hysterian trophy from the raid on the Hidden World, and his hostage to keep his leverage over the Hooligans' alliance.
Difficulty: Advanced
Revna "Ragnar" the Unseen Leader of the Outcasts
Appearance: Revna is a tall, slightly stocky woman standing a little under six feet. She has broader shoulders and wider hips than most women, as well as a more defined jaw, giving her a more androgynous appearance as opposed to strictly feminine. Her hair is long, flowing nearly to her waist, and auburn in color, while her eyes are forest green. While she does not wear any dragon-related jewelry, her armor is crafted from the scales of the first dragon she killed, and her weapons are crafted from its horns.
Personality: Revna is best described as manipulative and unpredictable. Often in for the long game, she prefers to let herself be underestimated in order to catch her enemies and even supposed "allies" by surprise, while she generally tends to be plotting their downfall behind the scenes. She appears to make alliances easily and seems rather cooperative, but in truth, she tends to offer little loyalty to anyone who doesn't prove themselves to her as worth her time. She can be ruthless and uncaring, yet surprisingly patient. Despite generally making use of being underestimated, a hint of paranoia and desire to be more intimidating has led to the development of a male persona who strikes a little more fear in those who have not met her than a female otherwise might.
History: Revna is not particularly forthcoming about her history, though she has alluded to a select few that she was cast out of her tribe, and they were eradicated for their betrayal. Born to a small lesser-known tribe, she was nothing special and lived quite surprisingly among people who respected dragons, albeit still with a healthy dose of fear. In hopes of keeping the dragons at peace with their tribe, Revna's people would sacrifice those who broke laws or betrayed their people as offerings to the dragons. Revna's parents were among these sacrifices, and while it was a closely guarded secret by the village elders what the dragons did with their sacrifices, it put fear in Revna's heart when the news of her parents reached her. Enraged, she spent years plotting against the elders and their chief, until eventually, she attempted to overthrow them, determined to rile the people into attacking the dragons to avenge those sacrificed. The plan failed, and she was driven out, intended as a sacrifice. She saw the moment the previously uninterested dragon was cued to take her away, like an obedient wolf. That dragon was the first one she ever killed, and its head served as the first warning of her inevitable vengeance on her tribe.
Dragon: None. A childhood fear of dragons has resulted in a desire to eradicate them. She does not show her fear of them easily, but she is averse to touching or being touched by them, preferring to let her goons handle them for her and watch them be used or killed from a distance.
