With the return of the dragons, and the rise of Dragon Hunters as a result, the need for Dragon Riders has never been greater. Hiccup and the rest of the original Dragon Riders have started training the next generation to fulfill their mission: ensure the safety of the dragons. A whole new set of Dragon Riders will be in charge of the safety of the archipelago. They will explore further and discover even more new dragons while protecting their home.
Can I have more than one character? Yes, you are not limited on the number of characters you can play, however, you must remain active with each character or they may be archived for inactivity.
Can I play a dragon character? This might be something we consider in the future, but at this time only human characters are allowed.
Can I join as a Dragon Rider? Yes, your first character can be a Dragon Rider as long as there are still open positions on any of the Dragon Rider teams. Dragon Rider characters are limited to one per member.
Can a character be a Dragon Rider and a member of the Berk Guard? No, the two groups are separate and act differently. The Dragon Riders tend to travel far from home and go on long journeys, while the Berk Guard mostly remain on or near the island to protect them from threats. The same is true of the Berserker Army.
Are characters created as Citizens able to become Riders? Yes, "normal" characters can become Dragon Riders later on, as long as there are open positions on any of the Dragon Rider teams. These characters may have to undergo training and/or tryouts to be accepted by the leader of the Dragon Rider team they would like to join.
Can my character be a Dragon Rider who isn't from Berk? For now, New Berk and Berserker Island are the only islands with their own Dragon Rider teams. However, a character that is not from the Hooligan or Berserker Tribes can join the Dragon Rider team (see the previous FAQ).
Can any character have a dragon without being considered a Dragon Rider? Yes, any character may have a dragon that they may ride. Dragon Riders are a special group that undergoes training; they rescue dragons from Dragon Hunters, explore and discover new places and dragons, and protect their home with the help of their dragons.
If I wanted to start with a dragon, could I pick an Uncommon dragon, or do I need to look at the Common dragons only? You may have a dragon that is Common or Uncommon. The only dragons with restrictions are those that are Rare or Very Rare, which require an application.
Can my character have more than one dragon? Yes, however, they may only have one rideable dragon. This means your character can have a rideable dragon, and either a species that is too small to ride (such as a Terrible Terror), or a dragon that is not rideable for whatever reason (they are listed as unrideable in the Book of Dragons). An exception to this would be baby dragons. If your dragon had babies, the babies would most likely stay with their parent (and your character) until they reach maturity. Once the baby reaches maturity, though, your character must either give up the baby dragon or the parent.
If I wanted to give my character a small dragon species, would it need a dragon application as well? Yes, each dragon would need its own application, however, if your character has multiple small species of dragons (i.e. three Terrible Terrors) you can have them all in one application.

Are there any guidelines for color variations of dragon species? We have tried to list some of the color variations in the Book of Dragons based on what the Wiki says, however, the games tend to have a lot more variations. We will typically allow color variations that make sense to the species and are close to the color variations we have listed. For example, a Night Fury could be dark purple or dark blue instead of black, but not lime green.
