With the return of the dragons, and the rise of Dragon Hunters as a result, the need for Dragon Riders has never been greater. Hiccup and the rest of the original Dragon Riders have started training the next generation to fulfill their mission: ensure the safety of the dragons. A whole new set of Dragon Riders will be in charge of the safety of the archipelago. They will explore further and discover even more new dragons while protecting their home.
Zephyr is a young Viking, still growing in height and muscle, but already greatly resembles her mother the most in terms of appearance. She presently stands as 4' 5" in height with a slim but lanky frame, somewhat matching her father's build when he was her age, but has Astrid's facial structure, nose, and being slightly taller than normal for her age. She likewise has Astrid's deep blue eyes and eye shape, but inherited Hiccup's freckles on her face and his auburn locks. Although, her hair is slightly lighter in hue due to the influence of Astrid's blonde hair. In length, her auburn hair falls down to the middle of her back, having a slight wave to it and is often kept down with a single braid, two long braids, or kept down in general.
Attire wise, Zephyr seems to favor sleeveless tunics that are somewhat form fitting or a bit loose, woven from traditional materials such as wool and flax, or similar material that can hold up to wear and tear. These tunics are most often red, dark brown, or blues in coloration, many weather-worn or darkened from working in the forge often and will sometimes be lined with cream-colored or white-colored fur. These tunics are sometimes accompanied with similar colored cloaks, shoulder covers, and scarves. Zephyr compliments these with fur-lined leather bracers with intricate designs, all dyed a dark tan or red, but she does have metal studded bracers and metal studded shoulder guards. Her trousers and pants tend to be black or dark brown, woven from the same materials as her tunics but are somewhat thicker to hold against the cold months, black leather boots some of which are fitted with metal on the front and the heel.
Finishing off her look, Zephyr wears a leather, metal studded red kransen, red leather belts one of which is used to carry her notebooks and satchels, and leather arm band accessories on her upper arms.
Personality
Where Zephyr favor's her mother's looks, she favor's Hiccup's personality the most.
Compared to Nuffink, Zephyr has more of a nervous personality. She falls into the spectrum of being more introverted and quiet, much preferring to have her solitude and not being in large groups or crowds with exceptions to say her family or friends. This isn't to say Zephyr is antisocial, far from it. She will socialize but has her limits, sometimes finding it more comfortable to be around people she knows well or just spend a few hours before she likes to sneak away to recharge a bit. On top of this, Zephyr has a tendency to overthink and be cautious, sometimes overly so to the point she does suffer from bouts of anxiety and second guessing herself. Likewise, Zephyr will become overly worried, fidgety, and unable to stay still, leading her to have to act or at least keep herself busy, traits that will require some tempering in the coming years.
When her nervousness isn't coming into play, Zephyr can show herself to be a different girl altogether. She can be quippy and sarcastic, having a dry sense of humor and somewhat cynical personality. She is careful, cautious, and quiet, but this does not stop her from speaking her thoughts or being forward at other times. There are times she can get annoyed easily and is much more serious and mature than Nuffink, generally being the voice of reason in many situations leading her to being more vocal and honest with her feelings and thoughts. But, Zephyr usually means well and has a good heart. She cares for others and their well being, usually going out of her way to help even strangers or just be someone vent and lend an ear to. Part of this seems influenced from her mother, with Zephyr giving tough love a lot of times, but deep down has a soft, caring side that can be seen most often in her actions and body language than being said outright.
Yet, one thing Zephyr inherited from both parents is being intelligent and inventive. Zephyr is incredibly creative and loves working with her hands, being known to draw out ideas for traps and contraptions, sketch random objects and animals, and works with just about anything at her disposal. She loves coming up with new contraptions for every day life, combat, and defense of her people, and seems to have a mind for strategy. Zephyr likes to test the limits of what her imagination can come up with and likes tweaking her ideas, showing a much more out-going, social side when people inquiry to her inventions. This also shows more to Zephyr's observation skills and attention to detail, being able to think on the fly while also using caution to plan and work out solutions to problems.
But, with the right motivation, Zephyr has shown leadership skills and the ability to take charge when the time calls for it. Though such qualities are still blossoming, under pressure Zephyr has that potential that is yet to be tapped into.
History

Being born about four years after the events that lead to a majority of the dragon population moving to the Hidden World, Zephyr's upbringing was quite a bit different than what her parents had known in their younger lives. Where dragons were a common sight, both as friendly and a threat, they became relatively rare when Zephyr was growing up. All of Zephyr's life has been spent on New Berk, knowing only a thriving, peaceful village life, a loving family, and spending many days going on hunting and fishing trips, trips to meet their long-time allies such as the Berserkers and Defenders of the Wing, playing with the other children of the village, listening to the old stories of their parents (including of the dragons), and much more. It was simple, quiet, and peaceful, which was even more so with Zephyr growing up a rather quiet child.
At about six years old, Zephyr's life seemed to take a drastic turn however. During one of the Snoggletog Pageant preparations, Zephyr got a little curious when she went exploring the family attic, coming across forgotten books and records their family kept from their old home of Berk. There, Zephyr discovered the records her great-grandfather and grandfather kept as well as the outdated Book of Dragons which drastically changed her perspective on dragons as a whole, arguing with her family that everything they ever told them was a lie. Despite her parents trying to gently inform Zephyr the books were old and worn and no longer relevant, the young viking wasn't having it. Convinced her grandfather had the right idea, Zephyr became more driven to create new traps and contraptions to combat dragons enlisting Nuffink's help when he seemed all too eager to become her guinea pig. It was about this same time that Dart convinced her siblings to follow her to New Berk, eager to better understand and see humans where they eventually tracked down and spotted Hiccup.
In the chaos that followed, Toothless and the Light Fury eventually found the three Nightlights, scolding them in their own way and intended to return them to the Hidden World but not before the family stuck around for the pageant which Zephyr and Nuffink were a part of. Toothless however jumped in to help Hiccup when the stage was accidentally set fire to and Zephyr herself would come face-to-face with the Night Fury, being frightened at first until Hiccup show the side the her parents had always spoken of regarding dragons, shocking and awing Zephyr before the Night Fury and his family left for home. Though Zephyr came to regard dragons with the same respect and awe, she never lost her caution around them with knowing what they were capable of. This was more evident when a year later, the siblings would be brought with their parents to the entrance of the Hidden World where they were briefly reunited with Toothless and his family and had a short flight reunion.
However, in the years to follow, those peaceful times shattered when it was discovered dragons still lived outside the Hidden World and were being hunted by the Hysteria tribe. Too young to do anything, Zephyr could do little to help in the efforts of rescuing the dragons, but was there to often see the meetings, planning, and preparations of Berkians and Berserkers alike to combat this new threat. Zephyr though was often present as to learn from her parents as the heir to Berk and began helping more in the forge, hoping to put her inventive mind to use or play some small part in the war. By 11, much of Zephyr's time was spent between the forge, village meetings, or coming to learn more hands-on about the dragons when they returned to New Berk. At that time, the war had come to a stalemate, leaving them only to rest and plan, and Zephyr herself having to come to terms with her own deep concerns regarding dragons.
So, she has taken this past year to better learn to refine her current skills, better study the dragons, and has gradually learned to bond with one of Toothless' children, specifically Dart. Though, their progress at the moment is slow going and their bond strained.

Appearance
Dart is like her other Nightlight siblings, a piebald of black and white scales with a favor towards being prominently black in color with white acting more as an accent. She has traces of white on her feet and lower legs, her nose, white edged tail fins that fade into black, white tipped ear appendages, and a white lower jaw leading into a white underbelly. The prominent black scales favor a resemblance to Toothless, even more so when her shape and build, even down to her tail flukes and wing structure, make her almost his lookalike. She likewise shares her father's small spines down her back of which can open up in a V-shaped formation to allow for tighter turns helped by her tail fin being longer like her Light Fury mother but resembling Toothless' in appearance. Dart also stands out in her siblings as being the only Nightlight to have inherited her mother's striking blue eyes.
Personality
Just as Dart greatly resembles her father, likewise that she also shares much of his personality and seems the opposite of her rider. Like any young dragon, Dart is out-going, adventurous, and energetic, seeming to have boundless energy at her disposal and loves to explore things that catch her interest. She is fearless and far from being shy, usually being one to invade someone's personal space and be pushy to be involved, hating to be idol and kept out of the action. Rather, Dart is hyper and fun-loving, always showing some kind of humor and youthful vigor that seems to make her very rarely exhausted or without and end to her boundless energy. Equally, she is curious and a problem solver, something that mirrors Zephyr in some regards to which she will investigate, test, and adjust her thoughts and methods until she understands something.
At times, Dart can be troublesome but is intelligent, being a quick thinker and adaptable. Even though she is willing to get into trouble or satiate her curiosity by any means, she is just as capable of finding a solution and working with others. Dart is also protective, caring, and out-going, being an extremely social dragon and loves to be around crowds compared to her rider. But when the situation calls for it, Dart can set these traits aside, showing herself to be serious and focused, going the distance for others that compliments Zephyr when they really try to work together, sometimes even to the point the two can be seen as extremely stubborn yet independent at the same time.
Roleplay Sample
Berk had become much more lively in the past year. Not only did they have the Berserkers around much more often than before, but so too were the dragons now becoming a familiar sight around her home. No matter where one went, there were old joys and new awes of their scaly allies, awe from the younger generation that had never seen a dragon up close, youths who had yet to experience their dangerous, beautiful splendor. Herself included except on very rare, fleeting times such as that one Snoggletog or when they visited the mouth of the Hidden World when she was so young.
But with it so lively, so too did it become harder for Zephyr to find time to herself.
More and more the young female found herself surrounded by people and dragons, her time spent more and more in the forge, joining various meetings and gatherings, socializing beyond what she was comfortable doing. So, one of those fleeting moments came when she finished working on a piece of machinery for one of the village's defenses, removing her singed glove to wipe away the sweat from her brow. "Hey Gobber, I'm going to take a breather." Zephyr called from the back of the blacksmithy as she made her way halfway out the backdoor, hearing a distracted response in kind. Well, best opportunity she would get. So, the young female quickly continued out the back, shutting the door behind her before slipping her way between some of the nearby buildings to make her way towards to edge of the village.
One advantage to sneaking off so much was Zephyr having a deep knowledge of the village layout, making it easy for her to slip by before anyone could notice she was gone. Well, almost anyone. It didn't take long for Zephyr to get that familiar tingle on her skin, the feeling of someone watching her closely as she moved. She didn't need to take more than one guess to know who it was, sighing softly as she heard the faint swoosh of wings and clicking of claws on the shingles of the houses. "Dart...I can't get one moment by myself?" The pre-teen sighed, turning her head enough to look over her shoulder just as the adolescent Nightlight landed a few feet behind her giving an innocent coo in response. Of course she was never that lucky.
Seeing little chance the Nightlight would leave her be, Zephyr didn't bother to fight it this time. Usually she lost anyway, and her attempts often turned into a game of cat and mouse that the young dragon saw as amusing. Shaking her head to herself, Zephyr accepted her fate as the Nightlight trotted along after her, low happy growls coming from her chest as she did.
